For nearly 100 years, Innabah has been a special place of connection and deepening faith. Camp is truly a formative experience, creating faith moments and memories that last a lifetime. The pool at Innabah has been a central fixture of camp programming since the 1960s. Chances are, if you are an Innabah alum, you have swum in the same pool that our campers are swimming in today!

For the past few years, the pool has received significant repairs before the start of every camping season to ensure the pool is a safe place to swim. However, the biggest concern is a problem you can’t see in the pictures: the pipes underneath the pool are leaking. Every day, the pool loses between 4,900 and 6,600 gallons of water. This translates over the course of the summer to be enough water to fill the pool three times over.

The new pool will place campers’ needs at the center. It features an extended shallow end, since that is where most of our campers spend their time, and a sun shelf—an area of the pool that has a depth of 1.5 feet to accommodate the smallest campers. The new pool would also include an ADA compliant ramp to assist our adults with intellectual disabilities, grandparents, and young children in entering and exiting the pool safely. These groups of campers comprise a little more than 60% of our total summer camper population.

Repairs to the pool would cost more than it would to just replace the entire pool. In short, we need a new pool. As people of faith, we strive to give our best in all that we do. So, we don’t want to rebuild the pool as it is—we want to make it more accessible to campers of all ages and abilities.

Here’s where the big ask comes in: we need $400,000 to install the new pool. Over the past two years, we’ve raised $134,000 toward the cost of a new pool.
